A warm welcome to the website of the Royal Dunedin Male Choir. 2026 is an exciting year for the Choir. We celebrate our 140th birthday at our May concert in the Cathedral. In August we reintroduce a less formal “Smoke Concert” in a different venue, and also introduce our new music team. We return to the Cathedral for our traditional December concert.

A goal for 2026 is to continue the process of recruiting younger members as our senior members retire and to expand the variety of music we sing, hence the Smoke Concert.

Our repertoire is an eclectic mix of old favourites and new music, including some written in New Zealand – as you would expect from a choir with its origins in the 1880s and with a strong desire to still be relevant in the mid-2020s.
